About myself

Nice that you are here,

I hope you enjoyed scrolling through some projects. My name is Johann Fregin and I’ve just finished my studies of landscape architecture (B. Eng.)
at the HfWU (University for Economics and Environment) in Germany near Stuttgart.

In my free time I like to travel and photograph what I discover. Landscapes and cities are mostly my chosen motifs.

I was also lucky enough to grow up in different countries during my childhood and was able to take something from every culture with me.
Before studying I completed an FÖJ (voluntary ecological year) in Friedrichshafen. There I rediscovered landscape architecture for myself.

Studying I’ve noticed how the interest in designing private gardens and public spaces has grown.
The plant world also inspires me again and again.

Thank you for stopping by.

Growing up in Italy near Rome, I can remember the hot summer days. So mostly in the weekends me and my family went to get some shade and fresh air at Villa d'Este, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It‘s an old Italian masterpiece of garden design, known for its impressive fountains, grottos, and water features. It later inspired many Baroque gardens around the world. As a child I loved to walk near the fountains and play with the water. Set near Tivoli, the beauty of the garden it’s enhanced by the surrounding landscape and historic sites, like Villa Adriana. Later in the years it definitely inspired me to become a landscape architect.

Coming to Stuttgart at 13 years old, I discovered there was the Weissenhof Estate. The change to a more urban life was a novelty for me at that time.
In Germany there is a more modern approach to architecture and garden design, which also always inspired me and made me think about simplicity and efficiency.
I think that: "as landscape architects, we sculpt the earth with vision and creativity, turning nature’s beauty into spaces that inspire, heal, and connect us to the world around us."
