Apartments with roof terrace and vertical greening Korntal

This is a truly exciting project for me. In Stuttgart - Korntal there is a new grocery store which is also equipped with several apartments which are built above the sales area. In the course of a noise protection measure there’s a 15m high glass noise barrier. With abundant 9m high vertical greening behind the glass barrier there’s room for some biodiversity. This construction is provided on three sides of the rooftop to better protect the residents.

A staircase also leads to a passage built for maintenance, which is located between the noise protection wall and the vertical greenery. The project is also partly reminiscent of the “MFO Park” in Zurich.

Noteworthy is also the slightly topographical roof garden, which features small hills. The troughs also act as privacy screens and the selective topography is enriched with various shrubs, which are a necessary design elements for the privacy protection measure. Stone slabs are used as signposts in between which gives the way to reach the various terraces leading to the apartments.
