Apartments and noise barrier ‘Zuffenhäuser Gardens’

Before my internship I can work for a period of 3 months as a helping student at ARP-Stuttgart.

I start my job in May 2021 and work part-time 20 hours a week on this project. My focus here is on the “Zuffenhäusen Gardens” in Stuttgart not far away from the Porsche Museum.

Here I can gain first experiences with Vectorworks and under supervision work on the design of the paths and the playground for the children. The biggest challenge is the parking lot underneath. It is important to find light materials and also have a sophisticated drainage system. Tree planting is also a crucial part of the project. For the green patio above the parking lot there is little space for roots as well so “Aesculus carnea ‘briotii’” can be a good choice.

Another exciting piece of work was the research on the noise barrier. The sound wall is designed to protect the inhabitants from noise pollution coming from the railroad in the north.
